Who we are

Established in 1994, Teaching Matters is a national nonprofit professional learning organization with the mission to increase teacher effectiveness, a critical factor in student success. We anchor our work and partnerships with schools and districts on Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education. Our programs and services are centered on professional development in core content areas. We know that teaching is a demanding profession, and we strive to provide support and resources to help educators perform their best work.

Long-term services

  • Teaching Matters offers intensive support to school and district leaders to create systems for collaborative professional learning and develop strategic action plans aligned with HQIM. We support teachers through weekly coaching sessions aimed at improving implementation of HQIM grounded in student-centered goals.
