How we build district capacity
How we provide curriculum-aligned PL
Workshops
Each workshop is tailored in order to support the participants in growing the professional instructional delivery. Some workshops are much more overarching giving a high-level insight into the resource, whereas others are more granular dealing with explicit topics such as Discussion Types, Sense-making, or Driving Question Boards.
Coaching
Sessions are provided in either small/large group settings or individual conversations. The topics for our coaching sessions are very clear and precise – of or relating to one or two aspects of the curriculum. These sessions typically culminate with either strategies/solutions that support the teacher while implementing the HQIM.
PLCs
Throughout our Launch PL, teachers are encouraged to visit the many blogs and forums specific to what units they teach. These groups can be found on various platforms such as: https://www.openscied.org/events/category/professional-learning/page/2/?tribe-bar-date=2020-11-01, https://www.openscied.org/facebook-groups/, and https://mmslnetwork.wordpress.com/2021/09/14/openscied-middle-school-network-mmsln-supported/. They provide invaluable information/ ideas from fellow teachers who have/are experiencing the same questions and issues.
