Who we are

Jounce Partners is dedicated to rapidly increasing teacher and school leader effectiveness as the most impactful way to improve student outcomes. Jounce emphasizes modeling and practice over observation and feedback. Jounce helps leaders and teachers to deeply understand the content and components of their curricula; use curriculum-specific, repeatable processes for intellectual preparation of each lesson and module; and practice lesson execution and data analysis through protocols based in learning science.

How we provide curriculum-aligned PL

Workshops

Our workshops tend to include explicit teaching of content knowledge, modeled lessons or components of lessons, and structured practice of lesson components. They are designed to lay a foundation of content knowledge and/or how a curricular component is designed to be further explored through coaching or PLCs.

Coaching

Coaching for leaders or teachers is frequent and has a heavy emphasis on modeling and practice. Coaching always includes digging into specific lessons/modules (not generic moves out of context), so that teachers or leaders may be growing their coaching or teaching move toolkit but are also building content knowledge.

PLCs

PLCs/grade team meetings/content meetings are structured experiences that include introduction of or practice with new knowledge or techniques. There is an element of collaboration and learning from all voices in the room, but it is more directed, collaborative learning rather than a facilitated share out of practices.

Consultations

Consultation with leaders includes development of content knowledge and coaching skills but is largely focused on how to implement a more systematic and data driven approach to instructional management (i.e. managing a team of instructional leaders or teachers systematically toward a set of frequently monitored outcomes).
